Model 1550

Model 1550
DataSwitch Continuity Testers deliver the speed and ease of use required for a production-line environment, plus the versatility and accuracy needed for engineering research. These membrane switch testers operate as stand-alone benchtop units. The Model 1550 Continuity Tester tests up to 50 trace lines.

Test Head Connector Box: provides the 3 connectors necessary to interface with different types of tail terminations: solder tabs, receptacles, and connectorless tails. Connector styles may vary. The test head is connected to a header on the front of the membrane switch tester with a ribbon cable.

Resistance Setpoint Functions
Resistance Set ('R-Set') Ten Turn Potentiometer: Allows direct setting of the adjustable resistance limit.
- High Resistance ('Hi-R') Test:
Increases the shorts sensitivity to 10 Megohms for checking crossovers.
- Adjustable Hi-R Tone: Gives an audible signal when a high resistance failure is found. It includes a thumbwheel switch so that intentional connections (such as looped traces) can be ignored.

Dual Range Switch: Adds a second test range to allow testing of membrane switches with loop resistance of 0-30,000 Ohms.
Testing Functions for Embedded LEDs

R-Set Logic Switch: Allows setting an accurate resistance limit on membrane switches with embedded LEDs.

Dual Mode LED Test: Allows selection of a flashing or steady state illumination of embedded LEDs.

Reverse Polarity Function: Tests LEDs wired in either a common cathode or a common anode configuration.

Shorts Sensitivity Reduction Switch: Decreases the shorts sensitivity to 25,000 Ohms.

Dual Action Foot Pedal: Provides the option of hands-free control of the LED and Hi-R test functions. Mini LED Indicators on the front panel indicate which test is being performed.

Volume and Tone Control: Helps differentiate between tones when more than one membrane switch tester is in use. Earphone Capability increases operator's listening comfort and awareness while silencing room noise. An earphone jack is installed on the back of the membrane switch tester.

For tails of up to 50 trace lines
One Membrane Switch Tester
Two 25-Pin Test Heads
Two-25 Pin Ribbon Cables
One 12-VDC Power Supply

The DataSwitch Life Cycle Tester will test switch keys individually at a rate of one million strokes in approximately 48 hours. The switch is placed under an electrical load of 5 Milliamps DC, and is checked twice during each test cycle: once for resistance level during the 'down' stroke, and once for shorts during the 'up' stroke. Dual counters store the number of good cycles as well as the number of bad cycles (or misses). Read More...
The DataSwitch Contact Bounce Tester measures both make and break contact bounce times on any switch with reliability and accuracy beyond that of an oscilloscope. This tester measures and displays bounce times from 0.01 milliseconds to 99.9 milliseconds. Longer bounce times are indicated by an error light. Read More...
The DataSwitch LED Tester accurately tests embedded LEDs for function and correct polarity with minimal set-up time. It will handle membrane switches with tails of up to 25 trace lines. Read More...
